Aligner Procedure

Step 1
Consultation With Dr. Kothari

You’ll stop by our Tarrytown orthodontic office and Dr. Kothari will perform a thorough examination. A team member will take digital photos and x-rays. We’ll chat with you about your goals and then go over everything from the cost of clear aligners to what to expect from the treatment.

Step 2
Create a Digital 3D Image of Your Teeth

We’ll take a quick, painless digital scan of your teeth and gums using our iTero® or TRIOS® scanner. A computerized 3D rendition of your smile will be created based on the scans and Dr. Kothari will map out your tooth movements directly on the model. This ensures he’s able to create the most precise treatment plan possible. He’ll then send his specifications off to the Invisalign or Ormco labs or design your aligners on his computer before printing them on our Formlabs 3D printer.

Step 3
Pick-Up Your Custom Aligners

Once your aligners are ready for you, you’ll swing by to pick them up. If you choose 914 aligners, we fabricate, polish and package them in-house so they’ll be ready in a week or two. You’ll wear your aligners for about 22 hours per day, taking them out to eat, drink, and brush and floss your teeth.

Step 4
Pop in New Aligners Every One to Two Weeks

Every one to two weeks, depending on your treatment plan, you’ll swap out your aligners for new ones. Each set is programmed to achieve certain tooth movements and as you make your way through the series, you’ll be able to see your new smile taking shape. Since there are no brackets and wires and we don’t have to tighten anything, your regular appointments will be quick and easy. By coming in for the occasional visit, Dr. Kothari is able to keep an eye on your progress.

Step 5
Check Out Your Gorgeous New Smile

When you take out your last set of aligners, you’ll have a confident, healthy smile to show for your efforts! Dr. Kothari will fit you for a retainer to hold your teeth in their new places and ensure your results last a lifetime.
