Step by Step to Your New Smile
The 914 Smiles team has the experience and training to ensure the braces procedure is seamless from start to finish. Getting braces put on doesn’t hurt at all and there are no needles involved (we promise!). From your first consultation to your big reveal, we’ll be by your side every step of the way. Read on or schedule a free consultation to learn more about the braces procedure at our Tarrytown orthodontic practice.
Step 1
Come in for a Consultation
When you stop by for your free consultation (you can schedule one here!), a friendly team member will welcome you with a smile. You’ll get the chance to have a look around the practice before we take some high-tech digital x-rays and photos of your smile. Our Tarrytown orthodontist, Dr. Kothari, will perform a thorough exam and then use your diagnostic records to determine a diagnosis. He’ll sit down with you to discuss his findings and your treatment options, as well as answer all of your questions. A team member will wrap things up by going over the cost of braces, your insurance information and our payment plans. By the time you leave, you’ll feel informed and confident about your care and decisions.
Step 2
Get Your Braces Put On
When the big day arrives, you’ll take a seat in one of our comfy treatment chairs and Dr. Kothari will get started. Like we said, getting your braces put on doesn’t hurt at all. Dr. Kothari will use a special glue to bond your brackets to your teeth and then he’ll thread the archwires through them. A team member will fill you in on everything you need to know about caring for your braces. Once your braces are on, you can go about the rest of your day.
Step 3
Swing by for Adjustments
You’ll come in for regular appointments, typically every six to eight weeks. We’ll check your progress, make the necessary adjustments and answer your questions. These visits are quick and easy.
Step 4
Your Braces Come Off
Woohoo! We’ll congratulate you and then Dr. Kothari will take your braces off, which is also totally painless. Using special tools, he’ll remove your brackets and wires and then he’ll polish your teeth. When he’s done, we’ll let you admire your beautiful new smile in the mirror.
Step 5
Wear Your Retainer
Once your braces are gone and they’re no longer exerting pressure, your teeth have a tendency to want to shift back to their old positions. Wearing a retainer is the only way to prevent this and it will help you maintain your results for life by locking your bite in place. We’ll fit you for a retainer and give you instructions for wearing it.
